I’ve slowed things down a bit this week and one thing I’ve noticed, it’s easy to lose momentum! Does that happen to you? What I mean is, when you’re busy and have lots of things to concentrate on you get swept along. But when you do less, well, the less you want to do 😊 I’ve been working on creating a Facebook group which has taken me far longer than I thought it would!
Today I’ve released the last summer pattern for this year. As usual, the bolero pattern is free to view on my blog (ad supported) and I’m running a promotion to celebrate the release.
I’m also sharing:
a Make-Along
an excellent resource to help you take control of your aches and pains from crafting
Lion Brand’s August promotional codes.
Facebook Group
I’ve wanted to create a crochet community on Facebook for ages but didn’t quite have the confidence. I’m ready now to see if my vision can come to life! I won’t know unless I try …
This is what I’ve said about the group: Jera's Jamboree Crochet Community is a positive space for crocheters to give or receive help and support, share crochet projects (including sharing WIP photos and finished projects) and tips and advice for anything crochet or yarn related. Feel free to share free crochet pattern links that are relevant to the project you're seeking help or advice for. You can also ask for a pattern if you’re looking for a design you’ve seen but can’t find. However, please don’t drop links to free crochet patterns without engaging in a discussion. We encourage active participation to keep our crochet community vibrant and supportive. Let’s share our crochet experiences and knowledge to help each other.
I don’t want the group to be about me and my designs. Ideally, I’d love for crocheters to feel comfortable in sharing and more importantly, that it is a safe space to share our passion for crocheting.
Are you interested in joining and contributing to the group? It’s so brand new I haven’t created any posts yet (will be working on that at the weekend). If you’re subscribed to this newsletter, I have pre-approved you (so you shouldn’t need to answer the questions) which I think lasts for 30 days. In the pinned welcome post, I’m sharing a tip and asking others to share a simple tip too. If you join, it would be super helpful if you could share a tip.
Fingers crossed it’s something you’re interested in being a part of!
New Crochet Pattern Release
I hope you like this one!
My bolero pattern is worked in one piece from the hem and then divided for the fronts and back, simplifying the construction process. The sleeves are worked directly into the armhole so the only seams to sew are the shoulder seams. This is a great project if you prefer minimal finishing work!
I’ve used a beautiful shell on chains, easy two-row repeat that creates an open stitch design, giving a light and airy feel. You won’t know you’re wearing it!
The bolero would also look great as an accessory to finish your outfit if you’re out for a meal at night (so not necessarily just for summer!)
You’ll find more info about the pattern on the blog.
How the promotion works
Visit the pattern on my blog and click on the image that says ‘Free Ravelry Download Click here to Redeem the Code.’ You’ll be taken to 'Redeem a Coupon Code.' Click 'use this coupon' to be taken to the shopping basket on Ravelry. Click 'check out now' and the pattern will be in your library. Don’t check out unless it is showing zero! Any problems, let me know.
The promotion is running until end of day BST 9th August 2024.
Clicking the button below will take you to my website.
Happy crocheting!

Exercises & Stretches For Knitters: For Quick Relief & To Prevent Pain
from Knit Like Granny went on a quest to find out how she could keep her body in tip top shape so that she could continue to enjoy knitting for years to come.Although aimed at knitters, both fibre crafts are so similar aren’t they! I think I can safely say that at times, we’ve all come across some type of ache or pain and know it’s from how we’ve been sitting while crocheting, aching wrists, from holding our arms up when we crochet (my chiropractor told me off a long time ago for holding up my arms for long periods putting excess strain on my upper back and shoulders) and more. I know you’ll find Jodie’s article helpful.
She’s sharing her warm-up exercises, strengthening exercises, and tips and tricks for relieving pain.
Go take a look and start taking control of your well-being 😊
Make-Along
I thought you might be interested in this MAL from Hobbii. It sounds like it’s going to be fun!
Taken from their website:
“Join us for the #AprèsSkiMAL and knit or crochet a stunning winter sweater. This year, we've once again teamed up with the fabulous British designer Katie Jones for an exciting make-along! Whether you choose to knit or crochet (YES, you can decide yourself!), this make-along is perfect for makers of all levels to learn new stitches and techniques while having fun.
Starting on September 5th, 2024, the pattern will be released in seven parts, ending in October—just in time for the winter season to begin. As a mystery make-along, you’ll experience the thrill of watching the design unfold week by week.”
Intriguing!
What’s on my hook
I’ve started a couple of new projects …
crew neck sweater - different stitches for body and sleeves and different colours too
Tunisian hat - using Tunisian Simple Stitch and chunky yarn I’m going to weave a different colour yarn through the fabric
I still have to …
finish the rib on the V-neck chunky sweater
sew the pockets on the duster cardigan
seam and add the pompom to the floret stitch hat
I’ve finished …
the baby blanket in candy pink - I decided to go for a shell/blossom look border
hooded pocket scarf
What are you working on?
In next week’s newsletter (probably be on Friday 16th August) I’ll be gathering together my summer patterns and the summer roundups plus the link to enter the UK giveaway for a blanket kit.
Until then (unless I see you inside the Facebook group 😊 hint hint), have a fab week ahead.
